Amex GBT joins the Heathrow Reimagined campaign

American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), has joined the Heathrow Reimagined campaign in calling the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for an urgent and fundamental review into how London Heathrow is regulated.

Andrew Crawley, President at Amex GBTsaid: “To deliver on its growth agenda, the UK requires a world-class hub airport. For too long, the existing regulatory model has incentivised inefficient spend leaving businesses paying more for less.”

“We look forward to working with Heathrow Reimagined to improve the traveller experience and unlock the significant potential Heathrow presents for the global business travel community. Without action now, we risk prices rising for businesses for decades to come,” he continued.

Heathrow Reimagined claims it is the world’s most expensive airport. However, Heathrow was not ranked among the leading global airports by Skytrax in April.

“We urgently require a fundamental review by the CAA to understand what has gone wrong and to create a regulatory model that can deliver the Top 5 Hub airport Britain deserves,” said a spokesperson for Heathrow Reimagined.

“This support from Amex GBT is both a demonstration of the campaign’s continued momentum across the aviation, business and travel industries, and also another clear signal from the international community and customers of Heathrow that the time to act is now,” said a Heathrow Reimagined spokesperson.

The campaign is supported by Amex GBT, the Heathrow Airline Operators’ Committee, Advantage Travel Partnership, American Airlines, Arora Group, Board of Airline Representatives in the UK, Business Travel Association, International Air Transport Association, International Airlines Group, Virgin Atlantic and the World Travel and Tourism Council.
