American Airlines will resume services between Edinburgh and Philadelphia next year. It last operated the route in 2019.
Starting on May 23, the daily service is one of five new trans-Atlantic routes that the airline will add to its schedule in 2025.
On March 30, it will start flights between Chicago and Madrid.
A new service between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Athens, Greece, starts on June 5. It means that the airline will offer four daily flights to Greece in 2025.
American will also expand its schedule to Italy with a new daily service between Miami and Rome Fiumicino Airport becoming operational on July 5.
Miami will become the sixth US airport with American Airlines direct flights to the Italian capital.
Additionally, American will start operating its route between Philadelphia and Milan Malpensa Airport on May 23.
The introduction of flights from Milan and Edinburgh to Philadelphia will make a total of 17 trans-Atlantic services to Philadelphia from airports across Europe. Passengers will be able to connect to more than 80 destinations across the US from the City of Brotherly Love.
Plans also exist for the seasonal services to Copenhagen, Naples and Nice – launched in 2024 – to return in the summer of 2025.
The frequency of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Barcelona service will become daily on March 30, as will the Philadelphia-Athens route.
American’s Philadelphia-Naples service becomes daily on May 5 while the Miami-Paris Charles de Gaulle, so far a seasonal route over winter, will be extended into the summer of 2025.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting September 9 via the American Airlines’ website and mobile app.
