Virgin Atlantic will waive the flight date change fee for tickets issued in March “to provide greater flexibility for customers with upcoming travel plans”.
The waiver applies for travel up to and including September 30, and tickets can be reissued up until the day before departure.
The policy is applicable across its entire network and on tickets booked on transatlantic routes with joint venture partners Delta, Air France and KLM.
“We understand that with evolving travel advice, some of our customers may wish to build in some flexibility to upcoming travel plans,” says Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer, Virgin Atlantic.
The airline’s Heathrow-Shanghai operations remain suspended until April 19.
In a similar move, British Airways will waive change fees for new bookings until March 16.
The ‘book with confidence’ gesture applies across all BA routes with changes available right up to departure.
