Advantage appoints new business travel chief

The Advantage Travel Partnership has appointed Andrea Caulfield-Smith as Managing Director Global Business Travel, starting on 15 April 2024.

It follows Guy Snelgar’s decision to return to his former consultancy business. Snelgar joined Advantage as Director of Global Business Travel in June 2022.

He will leave in July after “completing a robust hand-over” with Caulfield-Smith and completing a number of new projects.

Caulfield-Smith joins Advantage from Visa where she currently holds the position of Director B2B Global Travel Partnerships.

Prior to Visa, she held high profile leadership roles with brands that include American Express, easyJet PLC and Carlson Wagonlit.

Julia Lo Bue-Said, Chief Executive, The Advantage Travel Partnership, said: “I would like to thank Guy for his strong contribution to our growth over the last two years. Under his leadership we have developed an outstanding team and significantly grown our global presence. He leaves Advantage with our gratitude and best wishes.”

She said Caulfield-Smith’s key focus will be to build on the success of the group’s global business travel division which accounts for over 50% of membership with a £7.6bn annual turnover.

“Her key areas of focus will be to deliver even greater value to our members as we continue to invest significantly in our commercial products and services across this important business division,” said Lo Bue-Said.

“Andrea is well known across the business travel sector and I believe she will be a strong addition to my team and welcomed by our members.”

Caulfield-Smith added: “I have always had a great deal of respect for Advantage’s global business travel team and am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to lead the business. I am hugely passionate about the business travel industry and very much looking forward to collaborating with members and suppliers to further strengthen our collective businesses.”
