Account Management Team of the Year, Inntel

For David Luney, Head of Account Management at Inntel, the People Awards are about more than a trophy or title – they’re all about sharing stories

What did it mean to you to win a 2025 Business Travel People Award?

Receiving the award for Account Management Team of the Year was a true testament to the hard work and dedication I witness from my team every single day. Their passion, determination and unwavering commitment to excellence have proved undeniable – and they consistently impress and delight our clients.

These awards are all about people, and it’s the incredible individuals in our industry who make it what it is. This recognition shines a spotlight on the outstanding talent within the Account Management team at Inntel. I couldn’t be prouder.

How did you feel when your name was called?

I wasn’t able to be there in person to accept the award on behalf of my team, but I was closely following along thanks to updates from my colleagues – and my daughter, who was glued to the social channels.

Then came those two simple but powerful words: YOU WON I knew instantly what that moment would mean to the team. It’s hard to put into words the pride I felt. Being recognised by our peers in the industry is a true honour – and a reflection of the incredible work and dedication of everyone involved.

What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?

The reaction has been heartwarming. My family were incredibly proud; my daughter was following the event live on social media and messaged me the moment she saw the news.

I’ve had messages of congratulations and kind words from friends and colleagues across the industry, which is a reminder of the great people I work with and am surrounded by.

How do you think winning the award will impact your profile in the wider industry?

At Inntel we pride ourselves on the exceptional level of service we deliver to our clients.  Winning this award was a milestone for myself and the team, and I hope that it has demonstrated what can be achieved with the combination of people, work ethic and values. This recognition should continue to raise the profile of what Inntel stands for, but more importantly it shines a light on all of the amazing people that make it possible.

What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards?

Don’t even hesitate – these awards are all about celebrating the incredible people who make this industry what it is. It’s a chance to share the brilliant work happening every day, and to recognise the passion, creativity, and dedication that drive our success. It’s not all about the trophy or title – it’s about sharing the stories, the effort and the people behind it all.

Where do you keep your award?

This award takes pride of place in our office – not just as a trophy, but as a reminder of what we’ve achieved together.

Awards like this are never about one person or team. They’re the result of everyone pulling in the same direction, supporting each other and delivering something we’re all proud of.

It’ll be a reminder to every team member and visiting client of the part they played in making this happen.
