JAL expands services from London

Japan Airlines (JAL) will operate a second daily non-stop service between London Heathrow and Tokyo Haneda from October 29.

The airline announced the move this week and says a key benefit of the additional service is the early arrival time in both directions.

It will depart Heathrow at 09.30 and arrive at Tokyo Haneda 06.25 the following day. The return leg will depart Tokyo at 02.45 and arrive in London at 06.25.

Interestingly, economy passengers on the early morning departure from Haneda will be given access to a dedicated area within the JAL Sakura Lounge that includes complimentary snacks and drinks.

The service will be operated by a B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with economy, premium economy and business class cabins.

“Japan Airlines is delighted to announce the addition of this second flight on the London-Tokyo route,” says Yoshitaka Ihokibe, the airline’s SVP EMEA Region.

“Not only does this allow us to offer greater choice and seat availability to travellers based in London, it also allows customers travelling from elsewhere in the UK.”

Between them, JAL and codeshare partner British Airways will offer four daily flights between London and Tokyo, with BA operating two daily services – one to Haneda and the other to Narita.
