Edinburgh on the list as Yotel goes for growth
Yotel, the budget hotel group, will open a city centre property in Edinburgh in 2019 as it accelerates its global expansion plans.
The property will have around 280 ‘cabins’ – from premium to VIP categories – and is located on Queen Street, at Erskine House.
Developers say the property integrate “the elements of luxury hotels into cleverly designed spaces”. Cabins will include ‘technowalls’ with mood lighting and smart TVs, as well as signature adjustable SmartBeds.
The hotel will also feature a two-storey screening room, bar and Club Lounge. “Our contemporary and playful design together with technology-driven experiences, will offer an exciting alternative to the current mostly traditional offering,” says Yotel CEO, Hubert Viriot.
“Yotel is on a rapid expansion path and the announcement of our Edinburgh city hotel plays an integral part in our future plans in Scotland and the rest of the globe.”
It is the first project announced since the signing of a $250million strategic partnership between Yotel and Starwood Capital Group, a global private investment firm.
Yotel currently operates four airport hotels under the YotelAir brands and three city hotels in New York, Boston and Singapore. New city centre hotels have been announced for London (Clerkenwell, due to open in 2018), Dubai, Amsterdam, San Francisco and Miami.
