Boutique opening for London Whitechapel

The independent New Road Hotel will open in Whitechapel, London, this October, it has been confirmed.

The 80-room boutique hotel lies on the site of the former Service House – a former textile factory – and promises a “new concept hotel offering guests everything they need and nothing they don’t”.

“Stripped-back luxury” is the order of the day, so guests can expect exposed brickwork, light-filled lobby spaces, a range of “compact yet practical” guestrooms and “high functionality over frills and opulence”.

Rooms will include 49-inch flatscreen TVs, Hypnos beds and rainfall showers, while two event spaces are available for half- and full-day hire starting from £175.

The hotel’s Chophouse restaurant is the creation of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or there’s the lobby’s Cereal Grind for speedier breakfasts.

Rates at the hotel will start from £169 per night on a bed and breakfast basis.
