City Marque's Oxford House, London
THE BACKGROUND:City Marque, formerly Boutique London Lets, was rebranded in 2013 to better reflect the new direction the company is heading. Since launching in 2009 its portfolio of properties has increased from 50 to 150 units in central London with plans to increase this number by a further 250 units in 2014. There are 34 two-bedroom apartments at Oxford House.
THE CHECK-IN: My booking confirmation was emailed to me a few days before my arrival with a link to a webpage featuring location details and instructions as to how I gained access to the property. The email also had a link to frequently asked questions specific to the location I was staying in..
THE APARTMENT: My two-bedroom executive apartment was located in a modern ten-storey building that stands on the site of the Scala Theatre on a quiet side street just off Tottenham Court Road. The unit was tastefully furnished and comprised two double bedrooms, a lounge with kitchen area, bathroom and separate toilet. The kitchen area had a fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/ dryer, dishwasher, cooker and DAB radio. The two bedrooms each had a double bed with plenty of storage space and two towels per guest. There was also an iron/ironing board, vacuum cleaner, free wifi and flatscreen TV plus a double sofa bed in the lounge. Tea, coffee and milk were provided on arrival along with a small box of East India Company goodies which included a Fine Tea selection, sweet biscuits and caramelised pecans.
THE VERDICT: Oxford House is well positioned within a ten-minute walk of Oxford Street. Goodge Street tube station is a minute’s walk away and Euston Station is a little over ten minutes away on foot. The apartment was comfortable and convenient for my early start from Euston the following morning. The pre-arrival email was comprehensive and covered any concerns.
